Call for Nominations - Terms beginning October 2016
(Nomination Ballot Below)

 

The Radiation Research Society invites nominations of Full or Emeritus Members for the offices of Vice-President-Elect (discipline of Physics is encouraged), Secretary-Treasurer-Elect, and 2 Nominees for Councilor-at-Large with terms beginning at the Annual Meeting in October 2016.

Per the Constitution (Article V. 1): A person is nominated by the Membership if he/she is named by at least 10 members.

Vice-President-Elect:
Per the Constitution (Article IV.8-9),

8. The Vice-President-Elect shall be elected for a term of one year, at the conclusion of which he/she shall automatically assume the office of Vice-President/President-Elect. The Vice-President/President-Elect shall serve a term of one year, at the conclusion of which he/she shall automatically assume the office of President. The President shall serve a term of one year, at the conclusion of which he/she shall automatically assume the office of Past-President and serve for one year. The Past-President may not run for the office of Vice-President-Elect until at least one year after completing his/her term.

9. It is strongly encouraged that the succession of the Presidency shall rotate through the four primary disciplines and at-large, to be accomplished by the election of a Vice-President-Elect from a specific discipline/field. The order of rotation is chemistry, biology, medicine, physics, and at-large; the order of rotation is maintained regardless of whether a candidate from the scheduled discipline is elected in a specific year.

Ineligible to be nominated this year: Gayle Woloschak.

This year the rotation is for Physics. You may refer to the online RRS Member Directory for a potential nominee’s discipline. While rotation is encouraged, members from other disciplines may be nominated.

Secretary-Treasurer-Elect
Per the Constitution (Article IV.10),

10. The Secretary-Treasurer-Elect shall serve for a term of one year, following which he/she shall serve a three-year term as Secretary-Treasurer. The Secretary-Treasurer may be re-elected for one additional three-year term, in which case there will be no Secretary-Treasurer-Elect during the last year of the first term.

Ineligible to be nominated this year: Eleanor Blakely

Councilors

Per the Constitution (Article IV.4),

4. … The fields/disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology, and medicine shall be represented on the Council each by one Councilor from that discipline, elected expressly for this purpose by eligible members in the same field/discipline, as described in Article III.8. The remaining six Councilors shall be elected by the entire eligible membership to represent the membership at large. Each Councilor shall be elected for a three-year term. No councilor completing a three-year term shall be elected or appointed as a Councilor until at least one year after the completion of the term.

Ineligible to be nominated this year: Polly Chang and Steven Swarts

Following the tradition of rotating the Presidency through the various disciplines, this year the Vice-President-Elect is scheduled to be selected from the Physics discipline. While this is tradition, individuals from other fields who receive a minimum of 10 nominations from the membership will be automatically included on the ballot, as mandated by the Constitution.

The Secretary-Treasurer-Elect shall serve for a term of one year, following which he/she shall serve a three-year term as Secretary-Treasurer.
