2016 Precision Medicine Workshop

ASTRO, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) are co-sponsoring a two-day workshop for radiation oncologists and physicists, Precision Medicine in Radiation Oncology: Personalizing Radiation Treatment, taking place June 16-17, 2016, on the NIH Campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

This workshop will provide leaders in the field the opportunity to interact and identify a new foundation for conducting research to individualize treatment in radiation oncology. Program highlights include:

  • Keynote address on an NIH Match Trial by James Zweibel, MD, from NCI.
  • Separate sessions on: Using Genomics; Imaging; Big Data; and Real World Challenges to Advance Precision Radiation Oncology.
  • Keynote address on Improving Individual and Population Health Outcomes Through Scientific Advances by Scott Zeger, PhD, from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
  • Breakout sessions for discussion.

Abstracts are being solicited for poster presentations on related topics at the workshop. Accepted abstracts will be published in the meeting program, and posters will be displayed for viewing throughout the meeting. Submit your abstract here.

Join your colleagues this June on the NIH Campus to examine the many aspects of tailoring medical treatment to the individual characteristics of each patient.
