AACR-Novocure Cancer Research Grant now open for applications. Providing $350,000 over three years

The AACR-Novocure Cancer Research Grant is open for applications. This joint global funding opportunity provides $350,000 over three years to support independent investigators.
These grants intend to encourage innovative research focused on understanding the anti-cancer modality of Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy, which uses electric fields tuned to specific frequencies to mediate its anti-cancer effects.
Novocure is a global oncology company working to extend survival in some of the most aggressive forms of cancer by developing and expanding its innovative TTFields therapy.

Funding Amount: $350,000 ($116,666/year) for 3 years.
Application Deadline: June 4, 2026, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
Decision Date: August 2026.

RRS Loses a Gentle Giant

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Professor John B. Little (Jack Little to us all), passed away Sunday. He was a free-thinking scientist whose curiosity extended over many disciplines, an outstanding mentor, and a truly remarkable person.

"He was one of the main reasons I became a radiation biologist and his research always inspired me in my work," said Dr. Marc Mendonca.

To honor his six decades of pioneering contributions in the radiation sciences as well as his outstanding mentorship of more than 250 scientists and clinicians, the Radiation Research Society endorsed a new Legacy Plenary Fund in honor of Dr. Little at the 2019 annual meeting. Presented with this endorsement was a beautiful video biography and interview with Dr. Little.

If you would like to donate to the Legacy Fund that continues Dr. Little's legacy of enriching the scientific experience of radiation researchers by the sponsorship of a plenary lecture held at the Radiation Research Society Annual Meeting, please use our secure link HERE.

About Brian Canter:
Brian is a PhD candidate at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School working under Roger Howell. He studies the importance of the bystander effect in treating breast cancer that has spread to bone with Radium-223, an alpha particle emitting radiopharmaceutical. He is a recipient of a grant from the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research. He is also a member of the Scholars in Training (SIT) Committee for the Radiation Research Society, having helped reform the monthly SIT newsletter and the annual SIT workshop. Brian is also passionate about science communication, having led his research group in a Halloween skit incorporating principles of how radiation interacts with matter. He also produced, wrote and directed a video summary for his group’s recent publication in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine.
